Road rage incident in Higham/Barrow

Two men have been arrested following a road rage incident in west Suffolk.

Police were called at 9.30pm last night, Thursday 10 October, by a man who stated he had been involved in a road rage incident on the A14 westbound at Higham, where he was pursued by some other men in a Volkswagen Golf.

The victim – who was driving a red Honda Civic - exited the dual carriageway towards Barrow and they then forced him to stop his car in Barrow Road & threatened him with weapons. He managed to escape & evade the suspects and remained in a safe place until officers arrived.

Police immediately began making enquiries in respect of the suspect vehicle, which was located in Cornhill, Bury St Edmunds, at 10.30pm. As is usual in an incident where weapons are reported, armed officers formed part of the policing response.

Two men, aged 25 & 21 & both from Cambridge, were subsequently arrested in connection with the incident and taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre, where they currently remain for questioning.

Following a search of the vehicle officers seized items including an extendable baton and knuckle dusters.

Police are appealing for any witnesses and asking any motorists driving in the areas of the A14 at Higham or in Barrow – between 9.15pm and 9.30pm - with a dashcam fitted in their vehicle, to review the footage for any material that may be of assistance.
